Sounds like a few folks are going out of their way to justify NOT having tattoos (just like some folks do about having them)...really I could care less, but I find it an odd topic to start. As far as things "not being cool" ten years down the road...here's my take.
I'm 46. When I was 15 I thought Hot Rods, Tattoos, Motorcycles, Women and Rock/Punk music where cool (but not in that order!). 31 years later I still feel the same way.
I have a bunch of tats...so what, I like 'em and got 'em for me. Those folks that don't have? I don't really care, just like I don't really worry about folks with tattoos...it's not something I would normally think about. This thread made me realize some folks do I guess, on both sides of the fence.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Yeah. It all comes down to personal preference. Me, I can't stand tattoos or piercings...not for any religious or idealogical reasons, I just hate the way they look for the most part. Most tattoos I see are just the typical "picked off the wall" type that everyone has that are currently considered cool. Tattoos such as nautical stars, koi fish, skulls, spider webs on the elbows, etc., just seem so bland and cliche. I'm not even going to mention how retarded the tattoo on the lower back looks...ewwwwwww
